Sistemi odierni di ricerca artistica

Pietro Verdini

With "La forma inseguita - Sistemi odierni di ricerca artistica" ("The form pursued - Contemporary systems of artistic research"), Pietro Verdini (born in Gragnola, Massa Carrara in 1936) brings together his artistic production and the world of science for the first time. Structured on two fronts - oil painting and experimentation with the use of mechanic means of reproduction - the artist brings new perspectives to the Leitmotiv characteristic of his pictorial endeavours, searching for a parallel between nature and scientific research.
The size of the works of art, the formal and chromatic minimalism, the eternal evolution of the artist's vision, and the never-ending search for a "Form" thus become an integral part of a dialogue that, as the painter says, "could be defined as my binary language".
For the scientist, the cell is a fundamental element and constant point of reference, and in a biological system each component is important: in the same way, each particular in Verdini's works is given equal significance.
In the end, what remains is the unknown: no longer being afraid of the mysterious, but instead stimulated to pursue unending research.

Opening: Monday, 10 March at 18:45 at the CoSBi Centre
