Paolo Sandri

Paolo Sandri is a professional photographer with a preference for landscape, architecture and portraits. He exhibits his works in solo and group shows. He also teaches photography and works as a graphic artist. On the occasion of this exhibition, Paolo Sandri, swerving from his more usual path, interprets a world which is apparently remote from that of his artistic and intellectual imaginary: that of the scientific research. The photographer does not find access to such a world by its visual reproduction, but rather by the use of language. The artist parallels the letters of the English alphabet with key words of science and research. He interprets them visually by displaying 26 black and white photographs that trace an exceptional itinerary within the spaces of the CoSBi Centre.
Words such as Knowledge, Function, Bios, Process or Organism, which play a precise role within the scientific research, are transfigured throughout heterogeneous images taken from Nature, objects and moments of our daily life. The author, by avoiding creating a direct relation between the image and its visual translation, keeps a certain semantic ambiguity and connotative autonomy, thanks to which the observer can re-read and re-interpret the displayed concepts with a symbolic – allegoric approach, rather than a scientific – technical one.
