On 15 May 2008, CoSBi researcher Matteo Cavaliere received the Exceptional Doctorate Award for the Technical/Scientific Area at the University of Seville, Spain. The award is given every year, by the University of Seville, to the best 30 PhD theses of all faculties. Matteo Cavaliere won this prestigious award after completing a European PhD in Computer Science, Logic and Artificial Intelligence under the supervision of Gheorghe Paun (Romanian Academy) and Mario Pérez-Jiménez (University of Seville) in 2006.
