Advancing AI-Enabled Modeling and Translational Research

This week, COSBI held its annual Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) meeting — an important occasion to review the scientific progress achieved over the past year and discuss future directions for our research activities.

Although this year’s edition took place in a focused online format, following the celebrations of COSBI’s 20th anniversary last year, the meeting once again provided a valuable opportunity for scientific exchange and strategic discussion across several key domains, including computational biology, systems biology, AI-enabled modeling, Quantitative Systems Pharmacology (QSP), Physiologically Based Pharmacokinetic (PBPK) modeling, and translational research.

We would like to sincerely thank our Scientific Advisory Board members — Karim Azer, Ivan Nestorov and Corrado Priami — for their continued support, expertise and insightful contributions. Their perspectives continue to play an important role in helping shape COSBI’s scientific vision and long-term strategy.

The discussions highlighted the growing importance of integrating mechanistic modeling, artificial intelligence and multi-omics approaches to support innovation in drug discovery and drug development. Strengthening the synergy between these disciplines remains central to COSBI’s mission of advancing predictive and translational computational methodologies for biomedical research.

A special thanks also goes to all COSBI researchers who contributed to this year’s scientific presentations and activities, helping showcase the breadth and impact of the work carried out across the institute.

As COSBI continues to expand its research and collaborations, the SAB meeting remains an essential moment to reflect on scientific achievements, reinforce strategic priorities and foster the interdisciplinary thinking needed to address future challenges in life sciences and healthcare.
