From September 1 to 5, the biennial conference of the Società Italiana di Matematica Applicata e Industriale (SIMAI) was held at SISSA (International School for Advanced Studies) in Trieste (Italy). The event brought together researchers from across Italy and abroad, with up to nine parallel technical sessions each day covering a wide range of topics in applied and industrial mathematics.
COSBI was represented by Elio Campanile, PhD student, who delivered a talk entitled “A mathematical model for CAR T-cell trafficking and lymphoma interaction.”
In his presentation, Elio introduced an extended physiologically based pharmacokinetic (PBPK) model for CAR T cells in humans, integrating local tumor-immune interactions with systemic trafficking dynamics. This framework provides new insights into CAR T-cell distribution across anatomical compartments and offers a basis for optimizing treatment strategies for B-cell lymphomas.
Congratulations to Elio for representing COSBI and sharing his research at this important national conference!
