Seminar by Dr. Lorenzo Guglielmetti
COSBI had the pleasure of welcoming Dr. Lorenzo Guglielmetti, infectious disease clinician and researcher, for an in-depth seminar on current challenges and advances in the treatment of tuberculosis (TB).
Dr. Guglielmetti’s work focuses on improving therapeutic strategies and developing shorter and safer regimens, particularly for antibiotic-resistant TB, which remains one of the most pressing threats in global health. During his talk, he emphasized how resistance can arise even when effective therapies exist, especially in cases where treatment is not fully completed or properly managed. This reinforces the need for rigorous clinical evaluation, responsible use of existing antibiotics, and continuous research to ensure that treatable infections do not become untreatable.
